vibration and clunking!

i have a vibration in the floorboard only when im accelerating or my foots on the gas.

and also when i go over big bumps i can feel something loose clunking in the floorboard.

my zerk was broken off and i lost alot of the grease in the driveshaft and ive greased that up along with the u joints.

would that be my driveshaft clunking and vibrating because its still dry?

please help!

thanks.

I had some bad cluncking when going over bumps which ended up being worn out swaybar bushings. One had actually split in half so the swaybar was contacting the frame which made a lot of noise. That's one thing you can check.

I'd check that along with your driveshaft components and tranny mounts. I can't tell what you did if anything to fix the broken zerk issue. But I'd also check the associated U Joint... And if you did correct the issue did you pull the driveshaft yoke, etc apart. Driveshafts are weighted and balanced. I always mark the two halves when removing them... if they are put back together in the wrong way it can cause a vibration.

...and there is no rear swaybar as such

A few years back in my 1987 Toy SR5 I hit a pothole in a lonely Nevada highway and heard something "clink" but the truck felt fine. A couple of days later and after a few hundred miles in the CA redwoods I started to hear clunking when I went around curves. After a lot of checking, I isolated the clunk to the right front suspension.

TMALSS, the nut holding the right REAR shock had come off, allowing the shock to bang around a bit. Sure sounded like the noise came from the front, so be sure to check ALL suspension components.

And yes, the nut holding the left rear shock was also loose. (My fault.)
