flywheel resurface

what's the significance of a "correct" resurface. i'm dropping in a new 3vze after 450,000 original miles and i'm basically involved in a reconditioning of the truck. i've got everything ready to go except for the flywheel resurface (if that's even recommended - it looks pretty good and i notice it has a "grooved" surface).

god i hope it starts...

any help is greatly appreciated!

thanx

It is recomended you get your flywheel resurfaced when replacing the clutch, but if yours is that bad, it would probibly be best to get a replacment.

Marlin crawler sells replacments for a pretty good price.

If it's not surfaced the clutch will "chatter".
A decent machine shop will tell you if it should be replaced...

I just bought a MarlinCrawler 1200 lb clutch & flywheel (resurfaced); it's awesome & works great. I paid $99 for the flywheel; it looks brand new. Check my thread: https://www.yotatech.com/forums/f116/crap-head-gasket-giving-up-ghost-108156/

flywheel resurface

by grooved, i mean that the contacted part of the flywheel by the clutch disc appears to be of a finish other than smooth. sorta like a broom finish on concrete as opposed to a shiny finish.

re: the reconditioning or restoration project including the 3vze replacement - this has turned out to be a real project. but i'm doing things by the book, cleaning as i go, repairing and replacing worn parts, and finding evidence of "short cutting" by others that i've paid to work on it in the past, including the toyota dealer.

thanx for the input, i'll probably be back
