building new bumper; have a ?

i am building a new rear bumper using 3/16 2x4 rectangle tube and i am going to put some side wings on it. i have some 2x2 1/8 tube laying around. will this be thick enough for side wings.

What vehicle? (Pickup, 4Runner)

What is the bumpers design? (bracing, attachment)

Any support for the wings?

What type of abuse do you want (or expect) the bumper to hold up to?

I am thinking 1/8" is going to be to thin... but let's hear your answers first.
