Cruiser gear
Got myself CV axles from Land Cruiser, just cause they look really immpressive.
I wonder now how and if I can stuff them into 1 gen 4Runner.
Would they work with any tube control arms on the market? What spindles and hubs to use?
I know, it is involved question, but heck maybe somebody here know his stuff

Very interesting. How much bigger/longer are they? # splines? It looks like they'd plug right in. The only difference I can see is the integrated shaft on the inner end. Wait, where's the snap ring go on the other end, is there a groove?

You have good eye Hippy. Snap ring groove "enlarged" itself and took of the splines from very end of the shaft. Axles were scrapped because of that.I do not quite understand mechanics of that faliure, had no chance to examine vehicle. I`m thinking there was a pressure pushing shaft inwards. Why, have no idea.
Anyway it is no biggie, shaft can be easly stabilised/located by screw and cup washer.
As for size, I do not know exactly how much bigger are those axles, do not have spare 4Runner axle to exactly messure both and compare. Just by looking those are like big brothers.

This is total lenght messured from base of the inner joint,

So what do you think?
There are 30 splines BTW

Well, you called my bluff, cause I don't know what the specs are on the half-shafts we have. I did some lookin' around and found some interesting facts. On this site here, there are some Land Cruiser CV's (80-85) that appear to be shared with some trucks and 4Runners. And some that aren't, and don't look like they'd work, too long maybe?
