clutch stutters or chatters

I just got a clutch put into my 4runner over the weekend by a family friend that owed me a favor. Well when I left the shop everything seemed great, but on Monday I started to notice some chattering when I go from stopped into first gear. just for a little bit, and once I start moving or if I am already moving the chattering will not happen. Thats the only time that I notice it. I took it to a shop and was told that "it sounds like the flywheel wasn't turned." I dont have a lot of cash or time I leave for a big road trip on saturday.

Other than pay the cash to get it turned, is there anything that I can do? Will it hurt anything to just leave it? or will it fix itself? This is my first clutch change so I am new to this.

thanks

The FSM says it could be a few things, doesn't mention the flywheel though. I'm not to sure what it could be check the troubleshooting section, and make sure your pedal is adjusted correctly. Don't know where to get the specs for your year.

Here's the link.

If the flywheel wasn't cleaned before installation some left over crud could cause it to chatter. I would just continue to drive it and see if the problem clears itself up. Sometimes the disc just needs a little wear to seat properly. Doesn't really hurt anything - just annoying as heck. If it is still doing it after a couple of months, you might consider getting the flywheel turned. Should be fine for any long trips.

right on you guys, thanks for the help. I am heading off to start my career on Saturday and will not be using my truck again until August. By that time I should have some more dough and then I can do all kinds of things to my 4runner. I cant wait until then. Thanks guys for the assurance.
