I have a 1993 Toyota pick up 2wd that I use for pest control and there is alot of equipment in the bed.

I have replaced the leaf springs(3 leafs) with new (4 leafs) springs, and I am still getting some sag in the rear. I would like to beef up the rear some way but I am lost on how to.
I have been looking for air shocks but can not find any for this truck.

Does anyone here have any suggestions?

If you're gonna be carrying heavy loads all the time, I see no reason why you couldn't add another leaf. And also find yourself some firmer shocks. They will work to help control the load better. Shocks do not hold the load up, but firmer shocks will dampen the springs in a way to prevent the load from having a bit less impact on the handling of the truck.

 

This is a great fookin' idea'r with the springs. How do get in touch with this person? Or...where can I find such supplies to do the same.

I am also interested in the extended shackle idea. Am I correct to assume all that he replaced was the two pieces of metal hanging down on either side? Did he also change the angle at which they rest? Or are the shackles not fixed and just pivot in relation to the lift from the springs?

Forgive my complete ignorance about these things. I've not done enough reading about how this kind of stuff is done....lifts and all. Plus, I suppose I don't know enough about suspension. But here I am...to learn. I've been looking at my poor saggy bottom for eons now wondering how can fix without replacing the springs and spending a ton of money. I can put only 200lbs in the rear and it sags like a wet rag. Plus, the shackle bushing are about gone, so it's time to replace those anyway.

I answered this on toyota nation too, but I might as well add my 2 cents to this thread too...

If I had this problem I'd put airbags in the rear. That way you could adjust it depending on how much weight you had back there.

airbags 4 sure! I got a buddy that puts a cab-over camper and pulls a 13 foot trailer with a sandrail on it and his tacoma sits level and rides perfect...

You have a 2WD so the leafs are under the axle....that means I would have to make up a new lower interface for the bottom part....not that bad of a job for me. Let me know if you want to go for it....I recommend 12 inch coils seeing as you pm'd me and reported 8 inches between frame and axle. That would give you 2 full inches of lift...and likely a softer ride as you will not be on the overload leaf anymore.
Shoot me a couple pics of the rear axle area so I can fab up in my mind what I need for you to set the coils on the axle.....ZUK

 

I would just put another spring if you're going to be carrying heavy loads regularly. It's a lot cheaper than air bags.

Bilstein shocks or something as firm or better would work wonders with those springs.
