Angry attempting to find an affordable 'yota

i've been on the lookout for an older toyota pickup in the western WA area for the last 3 months -- without a shred of luck!

it seems that everybody here thinks that their rusty '82 with bald tires and 300k miles is worth 4 grand...it's almost insane

once in a blue moon a steal will come by, for example, 2 days ago there was an '88 4x4 with 126k miles for 2000 obo, but it was gone before i even called(20 minutes after i got the paper)

i just want something that's (reasonably)mechanically sound, solid axle, and with a 5 speed transmission, under 2000. that's not too much to ask for, is it? i don't care if it's spray painted '81 with 3 inches of mud in the cab, just as long as it runs and there isn't anything seriously wrong with it. however, there just seems to be nothing out there! this time of year i remember there being lots of stuff out on the market, it just appears super lean right now

thanks for letting me vent my frustration....ARRRRRGGGHH!

Autotrader.com usually has good deals. Although sometimes those deals are all the way cross country.

4runner prototype

it's a trekker or a wolverine, for 1700...wish it was close to me, i'd snatch it up
