I don't know where these plugs go..help!

So I'm almost done with installing my new head and timing chain on my 88 22RE. After much hastle, I have found out where most of the vacuum lines and wires go under the hood. But now I'm stuck! There are two plugs: one yellow, one bluish grey and I cannot see what they plug into anywhere. Does anyone know where they go? They are both to the passenger side of the motor between the EFI manifold and the valve cover (if you can't tell). Also, can anyone tell me where this bracket belongs and what it holds? Thanks to all!

I believe the blue connector goes to the cold start injector , and the yellow plug goes to the Knock sensor .

Thanks for the quick replies. I am done working for the night. It's too dark and cold to work any more. I will try the knock sensor and cold start. I don't know where those are, but I'm sure the manual will tell me. Joey, if you don't mind looking tomorrow that would be great. I don't think I'll get a chance to look at it much again until later in the week as I have to work tomorrow. Thanks again!

One more thing...My power steering pump seems securely mounted already. I don't quite see how that bracket helps anything. I will take a quick look tomorrow, though.

I see a blue one like that that goes to something mounted on top of the valve cover just behind the last set of bolts on the rear of the cover. The one on the rear right to be exact from where youre standing. There are some vacuum lines on it also. I see 2 yellow ones exactly like that one but they are on the passenger side firewall but I think these guys know more than me here and I would consider the knock sensor like they suggested. The bracket Im stumped on.

Well, it's certainly not the cold start injector. That is already accounted for. I can't find the knock sensor. What are the odds of those just being "extra" wires just hanging around? I would hate to leave it that way. Also, there is one plug (that I can see) about 3 inches below the oil filter with a rubber boot on it. If that is the knock sensor, that is also accounted for. Is there another plug somewhere down there I'm just not seeing?

I dont know were the yellow one goes because the knock sensor plug is round on mine. The blue one goes on the valve under the intake closest to the front of the truck. The plug is on the back side of it and thats probably why you cant see it. Im not to sure what it does but I think its part of the emission system.

Wow, thanks! Not sure if it works (I'm at work now). I'll check it out tomorrow morning when I have some free time. That yellow looks so obvious, I hope that's it. And the blue plug. It's certainly possible it could go to the BACK of the cold start injector. I don't think I felt around there too much. Thanks!

Wait a minute...does that temp sensor wire go right into the top of the thermostat housing? I'm sure mine dosen't have that.

The blue one definitely looks like a fuel injector plug.

I sure hope that isnt for the temp sending unit. I was looking at mine while we were on the phone but mine isnt yellow, unless its just old and faded, mine looks almost clear. I even cut mine off after we hung up and reconnected the wire cuz it was cracked. Wouldnt that be a hoot if he is right? Let us know Marty. Nice talking to ya, you sound like a stand up guy and a good member to have here.

Lookin at that pic again that could easily be it. Mine has the same covering over the wire even. And the plug looks alot like it from what I can see in your pic but not nearly as yellow.

Slacker- What do you mean? You've helped alot. The picture you put on there is great! There's just not a plug on the top of my t-stat housing. Thanks for your input, I really appreciate it.

What if it IS the temp sensor plug? Where does that go? Is it very diffucult to get to or something? I think I'm going to have to pull the intake manifold again in order to see more clearly. I really don't want to but I think it may be my only hope. Besides, I just saw a hose deep under the manifold and I can't see where that will attach to anything. Any more ideas from anyone?

Should be able to pull the 4 bolts of the plate on the right side that helps you get to the oil filter and look up through it. It will be mounted on the bottom of the intake closest to the front of the truck. I wish my digi cam didnt take a dump or I would get a pic for you.
