Finally Got my new 02 sensor in!

Well, I've got a 95 4Runner with 3.0 and auto tranny 160k miles. I threw a code 25 a few weeks ago and I've been getting 13.5 mpg around town so I figured it could use a new 02 sensor. I replaced it with a Denso and when I pulled the old one out it was entirely white and the base had a black build-up around it. Does anyone have any idea what would cause it to be white? I'm assuming this means it was bad? Anyways it seems to accelerate smoother with the new one but it could just be my imagination. I filled it up today so I'll post any improvements in mileage.

Color is normal. Good running engine will have a tan/white/grey look before the cat.
