87'22re to 93'22re swap
#1
My friend swap out his 87' 22re motor and put a 93' 22re motor in his 87' 4x4 truck. The problem is that the temp. guage and gas guage dose not work. When driving, the truck sputters and feels as if there is no power (lagging). The truck is wired up correctly and my buddy said that the harness came of a ""1993""(which i think looks pretty fishey). My friend said that if I changed out the temp. sensor out with a new 93 sensor, the truck would run better and the temp guage would work????? However, when i went to change the temp. sensor I found out the clip on the harness dose not mathch up with the 1993 sensor.
When I look at my friends 1993 truck the clip on the harness looked different from the 87' trucks harness. The sensor from the 1993 truck looked ovaly shaped.
On the 87' truck the harness clips and sensors are more square shaped.
Is there a difference between the two harnesses?
Diffrenet year?
Wrong Wire Harness?
What should I do to make it work correctly?
WTF!!!....PLease help..???
thanks

The long block is about all those two engines have in common. Best way to swap would be just do the long block from the 93, keep all the induction, harness, ecu etc with the host vehicle. If you still have all those parts.... :-)
