Alright so in the future, hopefully near future, I would like to lift my 88 4Runner at least 3". Here is what I have so far...

Front:

26mm Torsion Bars
-$158

1-1/2" 4WD ball joint spacers from 4Crawler

What size shocks? 12"?

Rear:

Downey 3" Lift Leaf Springs
-$199
Again, what size shocks?

And of course extended brake lines from WabFab
-$69
So that would be about all I would need correct? If not please let me know I might have forgotten something during my search. Thanks.

 

i have the exact same setup except i bought the 2 1/2" longer shackles from Downey as well. So far it has been about 4 months and every thing is still sitting level.

If you go to my photobucket link in my sig, there are tons more pics of it and other stuff. I went to 4wheelparts and told them i need shocks for a 88 4runner lifted 3-4". They put that in then i got the PC ES3000s

Any comments on the ride with the Procomps and Downey bars and rear springs? Did you do the diff drop also with the BJ spacers?

I'm pretty much in the same boat as you guys although I'm not really considering bigger torsion bars and would rather lift 2" but I suppose an inch more isn't a big deal.

 

Actually looking at your pics, I noticed you have some pretty good flex with those downey bars. Nice.

Do you really need extended brake lines?

 

the 26mm is waaay to stiff go with the OME

 

I think you can get away with relocating the mounting brackets for the soft line in the front but in the rear when going more than 2" I would definitely reccomend an extended brakeline. I had OME 2" rear springs and a 1.5" shackle in the rear of my last 4Runner and it needed the rear brake lines extended. I used a stock Toyota rear brakeline to extend all of my lines but that was a straight axle, not sure if it would work on an IFS rig, I haven't looked at mine that closely.

 

Should he do a 4" lift in the rear so he doesn't get the "rear end sag" when everything settles?

 

Subscribing cuz I need this info also. Is it really this easy? Can this be done in a driveway in a weekend?

 

not sure about the front, but I did the rear springs on mine in about 5 hours total... by myself. I did a full 4" front lift with diff-drop bracket and the knuckle extenders in about 4 hours with some help from my brother.

Do the bushings come with the leaf springs? Are they the poly bushings?
