San Diego/Jacumba run this weekend 3-31

I got to go out this weekend with Brad, Mike and Mikes friend Dan. The run started out pretty mellow but got more exciting as the day progressed. We ended up camping in a totally bitchen isolated spot that Mike knew of that overlooked the desert below. Zoey and I had alot of fun and enjoyed meeting some more enthusiast's. Well, on to the pics:

View of the trail

The first challenge

Calling it a day

Railway tunnel

My fearless co-pilot

Brad finding his immovable object

Zoey exploring camp

First obstacle of the morning

This fence is the Mexican border

Some views of the In Ko Pah area

Brad trying to.....well I'm not sure

A couple of total poser pics

Some rock cimbers (center of pic)

Last pic on the trail. Brad getting on three wheels

table mountain was pretty cool. For those that have never run the north side, there is tons of old roads out there with some great views. We got to the north west edge and overlooked corrizo gorge and got some views of the old railway and tunnels.

I didn't get any photos until we went into the jacumba mountains sunday morning. Here are those. Mike doesn't take pics and Steve should have some more photos of the table mountain area.

Thanks for takin us on the north side mike and showing us the cool trails and camp spot. Mission acomplished there...

We found the rock ledges that the jeep guy warned Mike and I about last time. Went up it pretty easily too...

Steve walks up in the lexus.

Then we found this trail that runs rght along the boarder (shown in the pic) and pops out southwest of elliot mine. Pretty rad trail there.

Then we found this cender block building way up on a hill overlooking the main road up to elliot mine. Been coming here for a while and never noticed this one.

Mike, sorry we had to copy you at the same poser rock as we were at last time.

And finally we saw these two guys who had ropes out climbing the face of the the mountain. Can you spot them?

ya ya I got stuck on that thing going both directions. Happened to be a good place to stop for a break and when we started going again I forgot about that little bugger.

That what slick rock is. I meant the name not the surface. I guess I should of been more clear when I asked you. Most of it is in Utah I believe.

^ mike, I hate to break it to you, but we went the easier route up to valley of the moon last time. The jeep F&R ARB guy was still overestimating the difficulty, but it was more challenging. And you get some kick arse views when you get to the top. We'll go again in fall...

Wow that looks like central Baja terrain

I've never been out there before. Looks pretty relaxing.

Did you see anyone else out there besides the climbers?

hey rob, long time no see. We did toss some clays. On the north side we got far enough into isolation in a canyon and did a little shooting and then picked up after ourselves (its not littered at all up there unlike the jacumba shooting area on the south side). That was after wheeling all day and this was the place we camped. The north side is VERY isolated. Also, some of the trails up on that side traverse in and out of the AB state park. The south side has more people, that was where the climbers were. That side has the best looking rock formations and some cool trails that way off the beaten path if you know where to go. There are valleys out there that you can only get to by hiking so if you wanted to really bug out and get away from everyone that would be possible.
