Need advise on seats
Hey, I've got to go to the junk yard and get some new seats for my truck... I want buckets, but the ones i bought are TOO DAMN BIG (and dont mount up right at all)..... So Im wondering if anyone has any suggestions on what kind of seats work well in the trucks. I'm looking for something kinda comfy, i was thinking about prelude seats.... any info would be awesome! thanks

I have Celica Buckets in my 84 4runner. They fit with a few tabs welded on, are real comfortable, and look like Recaros. I think mine are from an 85 GTS, but the same ones came in MkII Supras too. They do mount a bit low though, but since I'm 6'3", its not an issue

The seats in mine are out of a 91 Integra. They took a bit of work to put in but no welding or anything. Just had to drill a few holes which wasnt bad. And I had stock buckets that were wrecked and the Integra seats are pretty much exactly the same size and are very very comfy.

I wanted real racing seats. I got found a real good set on Craigslist for $250, normaly $450 each, but they didn't come with sliders or brackets. Brackets made to fit the floor of the 84-89 Toyota pickups and 4Runners are available from Apex performance (http://www.apexperformance.net/cartg...?pid=140&cid=2)
for $60.00. The sliders come with. This is rad cause the brackets are the tough part. You may have to mod the sliders to fit your specific seats but thats just a couple drilled holes. NP. Anyhow, thats what I did. Seems like you're interested in Seats from another vehicle and I have no input towards that...just this little tidbit.

i have miata seats and mine just had to drill some holes and absolutly no complaints and i get compliments on them all the time. actually they gave me more room that stock so i put my sub inbetween the seats plus they are sporty.

I've got a pair of 94 Grand Cherokee seats I was gonna put in. However the sliders are really tall and would require a bit of work so I'm junking that idea (they were free).
I'm now going to use a pair of 94 Cavalier buckets that I got for free.
As for mounting them, I'm thinking about just marking the floor, drilling the holes, welding nuts under the floor pan and bolting them in place.

I realize you already completed your seats, but it may help others. I am currently in the process of inserting 96 Civic seats in my 82 toy. You have to drill 3 4 new holes and fab one simple bracket. Overall a really easy install

If your spend some extra time at the junkyard just unbolt the seats and the brackets and then you only need to drill holes. I will try to take some pictures of mine. I think with the celica seats and brackets I only needed to drill 2 holes on each side, and was able to use some existing holes. Dont forget to plug up the unused holes too!

i had a set of late 80's subaru seats in my 82 4x4 i used to off road. the 79-83 bucket seat sliders unbolt from the bottom of the seats and bolted onto the bottom of the subaru seats with just redrilling the one hole it was a inch off
the set of subaru seats i put in my 81 4x4 bolted rite up. they both were only a 1 1/2 wider.
