The last 6 mos my Taco dbl cab has developed a horrible ride. I do very little off road with it.

Driving down streets and highways, it is one heck of a rough ride. Last week I replaced the fronts with Bilsteins, also replaced the rears. The ride is not much difference. Get any real weight in it, your fillings may just jar loose.

Is there a better set of front springs and rear leafs to look at than OEM? Not looking for any lift, just smooth out this ride. I also have a very slight "shimmy" when I hit the rough spots that I was hoping the struts would take care of. Where I took it for an alignment says the tierods and ball joints look OK.

 

tires maybe?? i know that any BF's get rougher as they get older.

 

Yeah, you could have something like a load range E on it, which is a 10 ply intended for one tons and towing loads. Go read off the max air pressure on the tire as well as the load range. What kind of pressure are you running? The reason I say that is because we used to have an exploder with Load Range E tires, it rode like a violent roller coaster on the freeway untill we went to sell it and put a Load range C tire on it, problem solved.

 

On an 01 your shocks should not be bad yet at all. You have something else wrong. How much air in your tires? have you changed tire's lately? I have 87,000 on my 01 and off road all the time. Just had the tires rebalnced and rotated and my mechanic always checks everything under it. The shocks and springs are almost as good as the day I bought it. Mike
