Did the ISR Mod..Results:

I went to The Home Depot with the dimensions from Dr Z's tech write up (Nice write up Dr Z!), and bought 3 pvc plumbing end caps. Total cost was less than $2.50 for the end caps. Then I went to the auto parts store and bought two T's and some fuel line. That was less than $5. So, for under $8 you can't go wrong with even just trying out this mod.

OK, on to the results. My first impression was, "Damn!" It seemed like the equivalent of loosening a tight neck tie. My engine can breath!!
I recently upgraded to a tire size bigger and noticed my rig was a little sluggish. The ISR mod brought me back to where I want to be.
Throttle response improved and I can feel an improvement in acceleration. On the highway, the intake is quieter which is perfect. But if you have to pass someone, you might wake up sleeping passengers. Everything is just how Dr. Z described it in his write up.

For the price, you have to try this Mod. If I wanted to reinstall the silencer boxes, it would take me probably fifteen minutes. So, you have nothing to lose. If you dont like it, it's only -$8.

Also, thanks to 96 Runner for all his posts on this mod.

Well said my friend.

And that's exactly why my wife hates it.

Thanks.

I also like the dark green on yours. I noticed you have the clear turn signal lenses. I wasn't sure if I wanted them when I did the clear corners but looking at yours makes me scratch my head. Damn this forum!!!!!!!!!! My wallet will never be the same.

If it makes you feel any better, I got my corners and bumpers for $35 TOTAL. It just took some patience, and some shopping around. Oh yeah, ebay worked pretty good too!

I have a buddy with a 96 Tacoma 3.4L. I did the deck plate mod for him and he loved it. I told him about the ISR mod and if he has the same intake hose setup as the 4Runners maybe he will want to do it. Won't know till I see his truck and then try it, if it is possible. I would imagine it would sound just like the 4Runner.
