22RE Actin up any Ideas???

My 90 4x4 p/u has been acting strange lately. the check engine light will come on randomly and the truck will buck maybe once or twice and then it will run fine and the light goes off. Sometimes it happens at idle sometimes it happens running down the road at lower rpms. This got real bad at one point and I replaced the egr valve and it stoped for 2 weeks then yesterday the light came on twice.

Wondering if anyone has had the same problem or could tell me what is happening. Two of my uncles, big mechanics, said it mite be a sensor goin bad or something in the wireing but they have no idea where to start. One of them was going to check the ECU for history codes but he didnt have the end for his computer and said if I knew how i could check the blinks and code it from the manual.

Id appreciate any help I could get!

Pull the EFI fuse or disconnect battery.

Has to be disconnected at least one minute then it should clear all codes.Check for codes before you start truck ,hopefully it will be clear, then re-check after running.

Dude, its too easy to check the engine code, try searching "cel codes" in this forum, anything you are looking for is available thru the search engines
on these offroad forums (except pirateBB) or the google, yahoo engines.
HINT: you can check your engine codes with a paperclip

Check out this link: Keep a paper clip handy! You don't need the Toyota jumper.

Sounds like the air flow meter is going bad. The contacts inside are probably wearing out. How many miles are on your rig?

I checked the ECU for codes today and it says that I dont have voltage between the Ignition Coil and E1 terminals on the ECU. So I have to do some troubleshooting to find exactly what is causing it.

Thanks for the help!

My truck is throwing codes air/fuel mix too rich, too lean, air flow sensor error and maybe one about the temp of air, its gotten so bad that the truck stalls at any stop and when on the highway letting off the gas gives me a CEL blinking out air/fuel mix too rich, now it doesnt give me the CEL, but i can hear two relays clicking on the passenger side of truck.

Helppppp!

Also: when in drive it dies but Shift the auto to N and the idle is more reasonable

****sorry for the jack, but i think its the same problem because mine started infrequent like you have mentioned.

By the code #14 it says the signal from the ignition isnt being imput into the ECU. It hasnt happend again lately so im pretty sure there is a wire shorting out on something. I havent had much time to mess with it lately but as soon as it happens again or I get some free time it will be fixed!
