fuel filter replace 94 22-re
so i'm going to replace my fuel filter this week because my 2wd pickup is new to me and i have no idea when it was replaced last.
i found the filter under the intake manifold. am i really going to have to take the entire manifold off the vehicle to access the fuel filter??
if anyone has done this before or knows how please post up! thanks!

Remove the access panel in the wheel well, held in place w/ 4 bolts, behind the rubber wheel well liner. Helps to remove the wheel as well and supposedly is easier if you also pull the starter, but can be done w/o doing that.
I just carry a spare filter with me and any time the engine is torn apart, I replace the filter, otherwise it is fine unless you are experiencing fuel delivery issues.

yes. there is a removeable lining in the passenger side wheel well on my 2wd.
replacing the fuel filter through the wheel well sounds sooo much easier. thanks for the heads up.
i will let you all know on tuesday or wednesday when i have time to replace the filter. danke schon!

You should not have to remove the intake, as long as you have the right tools.
These are really helpful, as are the style with the socket built into the end.

I also have a '94 22re but mine is 4wd. When I did my fuel filter I just took the passenger side tire off, and took off the access panel. It still takes a bit of reaching around but it was no problem. A flex head ratchet helps a lot for the rear bolt of the filter.

I just replaced my fuel filter yesterday. It took bout 35 minutes. Its a lot easier with the oil filter off. But I didnt remove the starter motor Use a small 1/4 rachet and standard socket for the top bolt and I added a 6 inch extention for the bottom bolt. for the lines I used a 3/8 rachet with a standard socket. It wasnt that hard but it bangs your hands up bad!

Had a real problem doing mine as well, really stupid place to mount it.
Has anyone out there tried to remote mount it onto the fender or firewall? I was contemplating this mod but didn't have time to try it. Is there maybe a kit to do it?

Retarded place to put it.
