My subs arent working.

Ok, i have two profile audio 12s in my truck running off of a 500 watt amp. Its always worked great, all of a sudden though its been just shutting down on me. It really pisses me off because then i dont have any bass. anyways. Can someone point me in the right direction on why this is happening? Could the amp be overheating?

How are the woofers wired... What impedance(ohms) are the woofers... Is the amp mono or stereo... How good is your ground?

the amp could be overheating but it might be a ground or a fuse

your subs might be to much for a 500 watt amp, which will lead to overheating and cause ur subs to cut out like that.

Sounds like something is causing the "circuit protection" to kick in. Recheck all the connections, and check for corrosion at the battery. Make sure you're not presenting an impedance (Ohms) that it doesn't support.

Another thing to check is to see if the amp comes on (the L.E.D. light) when the head unit is turned on. If it doesn't its a power issue or the "amp turn on signal cable", usually blue, is disconnected.

If it does come on, the L.E.D., and suddenly shuts off it could be the amp protection circuitry kicked in or its dead.

An audio shop should be able to bench test it for you for $10.

check ur fuses and wires. make sure u have a solid ground. if u rly cant figure it out then find a good audio shop to take it to. check everything, and recheck everything. try simple solutions first. replace the fuses, mess with the controls, see if there are loose wires or connections. good luck. no bass sucks.
