91 runner, head unit

I would like to replace the stereo, in this truck. I would like something inexpensive, and all I need is a single cd with and input for futrue mp3 player.

How do I get the dash apart? What player should I get? Are there upgrade 4" speakers for the fronts? What to put in the back speaker spots?

Thanks Mike

The rears in my 1992 Runners are the same size as the front. They are in boxes though. The one on the left side looks like it maybe could be modified for a little bigger speaker.

I was in Walmart and found a Pioneer 2900 packaged with some Pioneer 5.25 for $78. So I bought it. Now I have it installed, but the fade does not work or the rear speakers don't work. Any suggestions?

I bought the adapter that walmart had for on 81 and up truck. The plug in the truck, for the rear speakers, has four pins and one more in the middle. The adapter from walmart has four pins for the speakers, but not the one in the middle??

Any help is appreciated.

Mike

The rear speakers may have an amplifier on them. With a digital multi meter you can check the speaker wire resistance from the deck to the rear speaker. If you have a high resistance above say 1 ohm or a no reading then it's a good indicator that you have a factory amp.
