Hello I have looked all over the internet but cant find a guide to the 3.4 swap I just need a part list and and swap guide I know it has to be out ther but no luck I must be using the wrong search term so sorry up front! I have a 1992 4runner with 3.0 5 speed.

so from what they say I need conv harness, t100 oil pan,cross over pipe , engine, harness and ecu. can I do the wiring with out there harness is there a right up anywere on that? the motor bolt in in my chassis? 3,0 5speed , so no mounts needed ?

Yes, you can do the wiring yourself, but you'll need the wiring diagrams from both your truck and the donor to get all of your pin outs right. You'll also need the plugs to fit your donor ECU, ect.

Mike has done a lot of these (they vary from each different year donor, year recipient combination), and he does quality work. It makes your project pretty close to plug and play, and I have been very satisfied with having used his convesion kit, as well as his crossover pipe. I highly recommend going this route, as he is also very helpful in his knowledge of any potential problems you might run into. Very good company to do business with.

the wiring is really not too hard. Make sure you know exactly the year make and model though or you will be going through alot of hard times. I bought my 3.4 from an idiot who cut the harness going into the firewall (it was a great deal though). It came with no ECU and its proven to make the swap alot harder, but by no means imposible. Im using a 4x2 t100 ecu to make my 3.4 come to life. I also made my own plugs since the Toyota dealership couldnt get me just the plugs. They want $400 for a new harness with the plugs that I made for about $50 in all. Im saving hundreds on doing it myself. Motor will also just bolt right up to your old motor mounts if its a 3.0.

 

No room on my truck, since my donor was an '02 Taco, I needed 2 cats to make mine work right. I used the ORS crossover, put my cats under the cab, and the muffler in the stock location.

 

Why do you need two cats? Do the newer 3.4's come with two cats or do you mean 02 sensors?

 

I think '00 and up 3.4's have 2 cats. The first cat is part of the down pipe and the next one is about 20" down from the first.

It was fun fitting two cats and a muffler in my std. cab 2WD.
Hell it was fun getting that 3.4 in the 2wd.

 

Both, 2 cats and 2 sensors. The ECU is looking for 2 cat efficiency reading from the rear O2 sensor and if it doesn't get it you get a CEL. There is one way around the CEL, an O2 simulator, http://www.urdusa.com/product_info.p...s_id=120000008
It depends on your state inspection laws as to how long you can get away with it though.

 

Well I just saw what Gadget has been up to lately, I guess it is possible to have headers AND a cross-over in front of the firewall also. The goodies available for the 3.4 engine seem to be never ending as long as you have the $$$
