Cool yotaman?s - B.M.F. Toy Project!

This is a complete teardown and rebuild of my already built (SAS?d, Rear Leaf Conversion) 1995 4Runner. The old build-up thread: Clicky Here!

First thing to do is tear the already perfectly good suspension out.

Then, new build up plans are as follows:

3 linked w/ panhard FZJ80 front.
Leaf sprung FZJ80 rear.
Dual 23 spline gear cases.
Chop Rear portion of 4Runner, move forward and weld back on making a 4 door pick-up cab. Planning to keep rear seats to carry passengers.
Exo-cage the cab.
Flat bed to carry full size spare, tool box with tools, spare parts and cooler.
39.5x13.5x15 Iroks.

Will you be selling your old axels, e-lockers?

Yeah. I won't be needing them any more. I'm going to sell them to buy super axles for both 80 axles.

The front is my starting point. I’m thinking traditional 3 link with track bar and cruiser coils. Still trying to decide on the link ends I want to use.

So fare I’m thinking Summitmachine.com’s flex joints.

Here's some pictures.

These are the upper coil brakets I'm thinking of using.

Axle Mounts.

Any input is welcome.

Nice! Are you going to be able to have your 4Runner re-built for SE4RJ-4?

Looking forward to seeing this build!

So the other 4runner that was at the shop never came through? That's a bummer. Did you sell the little red truck?

I picked up another set of FZJ80 axles and an 80 steering box. I'm going to use the 80 box and tap it for hydro assist. I'll post some pictures of the new parts tomorrow.

you might have to move the gas tank as the 80 axle is pass side offset in the rear.

Yeah I know. I'm going to be using a smaller gas tank to make up for that.

No problem man. When do you plan to have it under your truck?

He can't stay on one project and you can't finish one project.

Progress! I got the truck rolling again (on the mini axles). I have to go wheeling or I’m going to go crazy so I put the Runner back together so I can take a couple of days and go wheeling, after the trip I’ll start chopping it up. I want to get a lot of the work done before the kid comes.

I might be selling the Tundra so I can buy a motor home. We plan to get the kid into wheeling and camping early.

So, you're moving the gas tank to allow the travel of the driveshaft since the FZJ pumpkin is offset? I am very interested in seeing this whole build after completed, as I want to put an FZJ80 rear under my 4Runner as well...
