hey all,
i just put in a new thermostat and i haven't checked for it being faulty, so i havent ruled that out yet.
the radiator was HOT!!! but the two hoses weren't (more just slightly warmer than outside temp) after idling for 5 mins and driving for 7. im thinking maybe a rad block from debris/air. what are the proper procedures for burping/purging the system?
the cap was bubbling and not going into the overflow tank as it should. its a new cap so i think the metal that keeps the cap tight has worn out from opening/closing so much. also the overflow tank i have is not oem, its from some other car just sitting there in a secure place. when i 'installed' it i put the little hose from the overflow outlet and right into the tank and filled it up with coolant, have i done something wrong for this to not work properly or is it the bad seal with the rad?
sorry for the long post but i really hope someone helps me on this...

Are you sure you didn't put the thermostat in backwards or something?

 

did you get the dual stage one from the dealer ?

 

no, it's in correct, i looked at it like 3 times before i put stuff back together...and i didn't get the dual stage...i'm thinking that having the heater on is causing the thermostat to stick closed and make it hot. and the one i pulled out was stamped colder than the one i just got...think this might cause that problem...what is the timing was too far advanced...where do i even look for the timing stuff?

 

i put a colder one in my 22re and it did the same thing then i switch it back to what it was supposed to have and it fixed it

 

hmmm, what i did was the exact opposite, it was colder than spec when i got it, and i changed it and it started doing this...i'll drive it around a little more and see how it goes, maybe it's just got a bubble in the rad somewhere...

yeah, i thought i could get away with a normal one, but it doesn't look like this is going to happen, so i'll have to go check with the stealership, or order that part online...thanks for all the help, i seem to have found the problem...
