How do you remove the lights on top of the license plates for the 3rd gens? I was removed the two screws, but I tried pulling but I did not want to rip or break anything, is there a certain way I have to pull it out?

The screws are the only thing holding it on. The clear lens is the only part that comes off so perhaps you were trying to pull the whole assembly out?

 

So I remove the 2 screws, and then I only take the lens off?

You can, but when I did mine, the whole unit came out. Be careful when rescrewing back in...don't overtighten or it will strip the plastic hole. I put those hyper-white bulbs in..looks real clean at night.

 

Any ideas why everything in my 98 works except my license plate lights? They were dead along with the rest of my hatch but I fixed everything else. Can't be the fuse, the taillights would be out too.

Any ideas?
