Who has replaced the stock FJ Cruiser muffler?
I am not talking about a whole store bought catback system, I mean only the can.
I have been conversing with an FJ owner over on Mud, and he said he had his stock muffler replaced with a Magnaflow.
I was guessing the part #, and I was right after he confirmed it.
The part # for the 2.25" inlet/outlet 14" muffler is 11225.
The part # for the 2.50" inlet/outlet 14" muffler is 11226.
I ran the 11225 on my '91 4Runner with the 3.0.
The 11226 is the same muffler, only with 2.50" inlet/outlet tubes.
This is the 14" muffler, 20" overall with the 2 x 3" tubes at the end.
The stock FJC muffler does not sound bad at all, and actually has a nice low tone to it, it is just not as loud/growly as I would like it to be.
I really liked the tone and throatiness of the Magnaflow I ran on the 4Runner, so I think tomorrow I may get the 11226 put on.
Another advantage to it is it is tucked up way further than the stock muffler hanging down.
If I go for it, I will get pics showing how huge the stock one is, and how nice the Magnaflow is tucked up.
Will update this and my buildup thread if I spring for it.

Yes, the can is only around $100, and 1/2 hour labor to install it verses much more for the TRD one.
The stock exhaust tubing on the FJ I would imagine is between 2.25" and 2.50", very adequate, just the can needs to be replaced.
I heard a TRD one the other day in a vid.
It had a nice low tone to it.

Got a pic of the stock one, but the tech lowered it down as he forgot that I was going to take a pic of the Magnaflow.
It sounds/growls fantastic!
Will try to get a vid when out driving this weekend.
It gets better as it breaks in too.
And for the record, the stock FJs exhaust tubing is 2.50" diameter.

Shot three vids this morning, and merged them into one 3.83 MB WMV file.
It sounds a lot better in person, the vids do not do it justice.
I do beleive I have more low end torque, it just feels better.
The grin factor has jumped off the scale whether just pulling away gently from a stoplight, or goosing it.
Turned a few heads this morning, and had a small ricer take notice to the sound of it when next to me.
If you want an easy way to get a little more loudness and rumble from the stock pipes, this is a simple swap any muffler shop can do for 1/2 hour labor.
