FJ Cruiser with Triple Sticks

Inchworm installed double cases in my FJC along with a triple stick setup. I didn't have pics of the triple sticks until today and a few folks had asked me to post up some pictures of the shifters. My wife is going to fab up a triple stick shifter boot for me. Inchworm did a great job installing the cases and shifter setup.

that is awesome if i had the money to buy a new fj Id wheel the hell out of it too. that 4.0 with those gears should put out enough power to pull a train.

as someone told me, I can now shift three times as fast... LOL!

The left stick shifts the 2.28:1 gears in the reduction box between H, L and N. The center shifter shifts the 5.0:1 gears in the transfer case between H, L and N. The right stick shifts 2WD and 4WD. I can run either 2.28:1 or 5.0:1 or I can run both 2.28:1 and 5.0:1 together. I can also run any combination of gears in 2WD or 4WD. Then on top of that add in the transmission and you get you choice of 15+ gears choices.

So... what do you end up with for a final crawl ratio?

I read that as well. I'll pass on paint. Not sure what I will be doing next.

Very clean install, I am impressed with the 3 stick configuration. Did they add short throw shifters as well?

That was the only way I could get my rear case shifter to fit into a factory cup holder. I don't have the twin stick due to space, but I do love the 15 forward gears.

No short shifter its an A/T. With the A/T the tcase gear shifter would have come up right in the middle of the A/T shifter and would have required a lot of modification, so twins or triples is the only way to go.

How on earth did you get three t-case shifters in that location with standard linkage.

Jim means on the short throw, the top of that rear case should be WAY back, so it must need a limited throw to not collide with everything else.

Help me with your diff gears, I am not up on FJ stuff.

Don't forget a nominal factor of 2 for TC lock up. I have 5.29's, auto and dual cases, final drive is almost 330.

The front and rear cases have a machined aluminum caps that bolts on top of the case in the original shifter location covering the rails. The shifter cap has shifter forks and rods inside. The rods stick out through the sides of the aluminum cap. The shifters are attached to the rods on the front case. The front case has one shift fork that drives the rail in the front case for the stock (2.28) gears. There is linkage in the way of joints and threaded rods that run from the shifters to the rear case. The rear case has two shift forks for the 5:1 gears and the 2WD and 4WD selector. It's kind of hard to describe, so I'll try and get a picture for you in a day or so. The stock FJ diffs are 3.73. I did not factor in the TC.

This is not my FJ, but it's a similar setup. These are from a member on TTORA (TBob).

So basically if you're in LO-LO-4WD in drive with the engine idling, you can't stop? Cool

Pop it into neutral and it stops.
Yes, it wants to push through the brakes.

I have only ridden in one rig with the crawler box, and it was awsome.
We were going so slow, but right over the tops of buolders.

That was at the FJ Trail Team Event last July, a week before I my FJ.

That is the rig there, but I was not in it then.

i hapen to be a railroad engineer , as a great as our fj's are , no matter what gear ratio you were running , you still wouldnt be able to pull a train. LOL
we run 3 to 4 engines most of the time , each one of the new engines is 4400 hp, and figure a grain train , which is almost the heavest train we run , has 110 cars , at 145 tons each, 15950 tons total, and 17600 hp, we are usually sitting at .8 hp per ton. which is the minimum we can run our trains out of spokane towards pasco at.

go ahead and figure out your horsepower per ton on your fj , at curb weight .
sorry for the hijack , just having a little fun on a rare day off.
