I made a decision on lift... am I on the right track?

Ok so after some searching I think i will go with the OME kit for my 90 4x4. seems like a lot of people use OME stuff. I wanteds a little lift and wanted something simple. Currently i have 32 X11.5 tires that came with the truck. My next question is should I buy the whole OME Kit with shocks and all or mix and match parts. I think i might also add a 4crawler 1"body lift and new bushing for the whole suspension. Is this a good investment? I mainly only daily drive my truck but I want to do some off-roading, nothing crazy, from what I have read the OME will give better handling for both. Maybe eventually i will get a locker. I want to get some headers and my exhaust re-doen first.

Thanks for all the help I will hopefuly have better question and some contributions as i keep reading all this info on here and learing.

The reason you lift a truck is to fit bigger tires on it. What size of tires do you plan on putting on it? Handling is relitive to what you use the truck for.

if you're going to do any wheeling at all, the locker is a must have while headers and exhaust are a nice-to-have. You will get 10x farther with the locker than you can having open differentials.

I dunno if a locker is a MUST have. It just depends on where you want to go. I've taken uninitiated people in open-diff vehicles places where they think we're gonna kill the truck, or flip it or something. A stock Toy truck will get through some pretty nasty looking trails!

My advice would be to start wheelin' it as is, then decide what you want. If you're on 32s I doubt clearance will be the first issue you run in to.

I understand about the locker. The headers and exhaust are becuase I need to have some exhaust work done anyways. The guy who owned the truck before me took of the cat. So instead of having one welded in I want to just get everything made new. In Las Vegas you need it to pass smog or pay $100 or more every year to get a fake smog check. And the muffler shops here are damn expensive, to weld on two flanges cost just as much to buy a cat that already has the two flanges on it.

The tires on the truck still have a lot left but i would like to get maybe 33" tires later on and I would like the truck to be a little higher for my own prefference. But a locker is something I will get, seems like they are the best BFTB on a 4x4. And the shocks on my truck look like they are about to rust off and the bushing look like burnt marshmallows. Also, the bed shimmys a bit while driving, after researching, I found it could be the body mounts.

I am trying get a better price on the exhaust so maybe i will skip the headers and get a locker for the rear after all.

no not at all. you do not NEED a locker. i've been many many places with just a very little lift on a pretty much stock 86runner. never had a locker. and it handled just fine. and pulled out some people on mean time.

my experience with headers and exhaust, waste of my money.

I have them, and they were cool for about 10 days, then the novelty wore off, plus, no performace increase whatsoever. The other thing is, the stock exhaust fits very nicely, and hangs easily...My new stuff had to be rigged in a few places with baling wire becasue it wouldn't fit quite right...just my experience, but i'm not impressed with them...i wish i'd spend the money elsewhere.
