I feel like an idiot asking this, but yea, i've asked a couple buddies of mine and they don't know either. I gotta replace it because its making some noise. It sounds like something is opening and closing in it, but i can hear it in the truck now, and it drives me nuts!! oh yea, and i am also hearing like a suction noise coming from behind the dash somewhere. i can definatley notice it after i've come to a stop. its not loud at all, but it definatley wasn't there a few weeks ago. it started after i took it through a little pudle about a foot deep. if anyones had this problem or can recommend me on were to start lookin, that'd be great. thanks everyone

That's what the EGR valve does-It opens and closes. It may be sticking a little. You can take it off and clean it with some brake cleaner. That may stop the noise if it is indeed sticking a little.

If you aren't getting the infamous code 71, it's prob. fine- just sticking. They build up carbon after awhile. use a can of good brake cleaner & work the valve back and forth while cleaning.
You know, before you do that check out this, and do the test for the egr start with #6:
http://personal.utulsa.edu/~nathan-b...ne/19egrsy.pdf

If it tests out fine by this, then it is.

If not go to http://www.trademotion.com/partlocat...40&catalogid=0
(it's conicelli toyota in NJ) and search the body parts catalog for your year/model then go to emission>emission>egr>egr valve>4or 6 cyl. They want 138$ for mine. They are VERY fast, I order tons of ˟˟˟˟˟ from them. I HAVE NO CONNECTION TO THEM. Here's a 10% off coupon they just sent me: (Everyone feel free to use it, they said to give it to family/friends) Just enter coupon code T4R1106
Shipping is way cheap too. Or check with strap22 & see what he can do price-wise-they all say he's good. I go wherever is cheapest for OE toy stuff. It's usually these guys or www.1sttoyotaparts.com But they are on the west coast, so it takes a week to arrive@my house usually. the first one is on the east coast, NJ.
Good luck & DO THOSE TESTS FIRST! Take it from someone who replaced everything instead of doing the proper testing!

They might be a cool place to deal with but strap22 can give you a discount as well as outstanding customer service....their service and prices is one of a kind for a dealership!
