Name it, I'm there, but I would prefer Buena Vista just cuz it's closer!

By Telluride, do you mean Ouray too?

thats very possible, got any ideas of the trails that way ? we are still open to any place, just trying to gage the interest.

BUT, someone needs to step up and start with the planning, the dates etc.

Doug and I would like to make this year's jambo, just didn't work out last year. We are hoping to go to the Telluride-Ouray area anyway this year so that would be good, Buena Vista I am always up for so pretty flexible. I am planning the Ladies Jambo toward the end of July so pleeeease try and not schedule during that time.

Im done....

just so you all know, im NOT the one planning this, someone needs to step-up and plan this, Im willing to help out with the Raffel, "IF" everyone wants to do the raffel again this year.
Im not trying to be mean or a rear end (edited for the family) but someone needs to set a date, or make poll to get ideas for the dates.

Darc, it would be great to wheel with you both, (yea even Doug, lol) we need to get out soon as some of this snow melts, lol.

I think late July or early Aug is best - at least for camping purposes. When you get into mid to late august it starts getting cold.

Jonathan, I am worried that your death wobble could be cured by tires. Either you don't have "death wobble" or your tires are square chunks of concrete.

John makes a good point about time.

I have no interest in planning.

If I am in Colorado, I will attend.

There has been a little discontinuity from those who attended early and those who are considering attendance now. John may be the exception. Ouray/Telluride/SW CO are nearer the old CO4RJ's. There is a lot of good, scenic driving down there, but that is a LONG haul from Denver metro.

To reiterate important questions for those who take the reigns next:
1. How close is it to Denver? People are good at the 2-4 hour mark. Much more is a real drag.
2. Is there a large enough campground? This group has not been one for primitive camping in the past
3. Are there enough trails to support the numbers? More than 15 trucks on a trail is a big drag. If you divide, how small are the groups and how are they made.

Beyond that, it is gravy.

Jon, i'm not sure its tires either.

Closer to denver is best. Farther and i'd rather just haul out to Moab. Ouray is pretty, but not for me.

camping is another important point. Beginning of July would be dandy.

I'm bound and determined to go this year. And I'm bound and determined to be regeared and front-locked when we go. I might even have either a winch or a new rear bumper.

If we do Buena Vista, I'd be more than happy to lead a trail or two.

If anyone is interested in decals, I might have a connection for those. I could design them. But, I would need to know about 2 months in advance where we are definitely going to be so that I could design and print them.

Weekend of July 21st I'm in the Durango/Ouray area. How about then and there?

Otherwise, I'm not sure. Umm.... Let me think.

In 2003, the group went to Buena Vista and camped at Chalk Creek camp ground (Nathrop). They have bathroom and shower facilities. Down the street in Buena Vista, there are a couple hotel/motels. There's also a hotel about 45 minutes away in Fairplay. Additionally, BV offers all the ammenities including a City Market, multiple gas stations, and liquor stores. A short drive into Salida will give you a Wal-Mart.

I'd prefer Buena Vista because it is closer than Telluride/Ouray. Telluride is a 4+ hour drive. BV is only 1 hour 45 minutes. Additionally, there are a lot of "mild to wild" trails in the area including:
Mt. Antero/Baldwin Lakes (mild)
Hancock/Tomichi (mild/moderate)
Taylor Pass (moderate)
Pomeroy Lake (moderate)
Chinaman's Gulch (wild)
Wheeler Lake (wild - and also a 45 minute drive from camp)
Tincup Pass (mild)

I could even throw my hat into the ring to plan this if we choose Buena Vista. I know the area very well and would be more than happy to plan trail runs, etc.

We was at the Jambo in 2005 in the BV area, and we loved it, for the reasons already listed.
the only reason it was at Glenwood Springs last year, people was saying they wanted a change, and they really didnt want to tear up their vehicles, etc. etc.

I personally dont care where or when the Jambo is, someone just needs to set the dates, so we and others can make sure we get the time off from work.

Again, Id be happy to help out with Raffel, "IF" everyone wants to do that again ??
