High pinion SAS Question

I have a 82' Toyota front end I am putting under a 88' Toyota pick up. My question is: Can you grind the front cover off and weld the front cover back on 180 deg. Then you could rotate you 3rd member 180 deg. and run Rev. cut gears. You would have a high pinion. Can you do this? If not than why? Thanks.

Or buy a FJ80 front third member.

I *THINK* your idea would have oil starve issues with the pinion bearings. Hi pinions are designed ot run that way.

Does the ring gear not pick up the oil and sling it around in the case? or does it have another way of moving the oil?

Dude, Pirate told you the right answer.

For the time, money and BS you are going through, you can buy a brand new, straight from Toyota housing and put the gears that you are going to have to put into it anyway. If you are worried about spending the extra 100 for bearings, find a different hobby.
