85 4Runner power to fuel pump?

New to this forum. I've got a 85 4runner that I got with the engine out of the car. I installed a rebuilt 22rec motor and reinstalled the wireing harness. The problem is that I am not getting any power to the fule pump. The Chilton book talks about shorting out the fuel pump check connector. The porblem is that my vehicle does not have this unit in the wireing harness. I cant seem to find any shutoff switch or relay anywhere. Anyone know of the location of any relays or spicific fues location? Any help on a better wireing diagram would be helpufll. Thanks

Thanks for the help. I used the jumper wire and got power to the fuel pump, only to find that the pump was also bad. At least I got power to the pump. Now that that has been corrected and fuel is flowing, I have tried to start the engine only to have it strat and then die after a few sectons. If I waite a minute or two and try to restart, the motor will fire for a few seconds and then die again. If I try to restart without waiting it wont fire. Ive got good spark to the plugs. Any ideas? Thanks Mike

Is this new problem w/ or w/o jumper installed?
Try running with the jumper and if it works, then 2 choices. Leave the jumper in place or else troubleshoot why the CO relay is not turning on (either bad relay or bad AFM).

Thanks for the reply. This is a new problem. Now with the jumper wire pluged in, I can get fuel throu the fuel rail and back to the return line. I still can only just get the engine to fire up and then it stalles out (10 seconds running). I performed some checks on the air box curcit and got readings within limits. The computer was switched out with a different one and had the same results. Its almost like it gets just enough fuel from the cold start injuctor and them nothing else? Good spark to all plugs and lots of fuel running thru the return line. Thanks for any help you may have. Mike

Might search on the 4x4wire forum for "injector plice", a few threads on fixing bad injector wiring splices that can become bad over time and prevent the injectors from firing:

Thanks for all your help. Ive made all the checks and it still wont run. I went to 4x4 wire.com and looked at simuler issues. One stated to try running starter fluid to see if the eng. would continue to run AND IT DID. The thinking is that since this motor sat for over 2 years the injecters may be pluged up. I saw a web site where I can send them to be reworked but dont remember it and now I cant find it again. Would you have a recomendation for a shop? the cost of new ones seems very high. thanks again for all your help. Mike
