Bumper woes
Here I was getting all excited to finally mount my bumper and I run into a snag. This bumper came off of a 98 taco (same specs, 4wd, sr5 etc) and we built for a 3" BL, which I have. i was *supposed* to be able to just weld on these two side plates over the stock bumper mount and it would bolt right up but nope. it appears my frame rails must be longer or something. as pictured, I can just weld the front mounting plate straight to the end of the frame, bypassing that 2" of square tubing sticking out, but that still only gets the side plate on about half way...i dont think thatd be a very strong weld. any ideas?

after studying some pics, heres a pic of the mounts on the 98 and on my truck one on top of the other. could i bust out a grinder or sawzall and cut off the end of the frame and weld the mounting plate straight to it?

well it seems ive answered my own question. tomorrow im going to cut off my frame rails to the same length as the 98 ones and add 2 inches (so i can remove that 2" square tubing extension pictured) and then do something along the lines of WATRDs endcap reinforcement (minus the center bolt) then weld the front mounting plates straight to the end of the frame rail and then the side ones should match up. sound good?
