Engine "surging" after warm up.
Hi
I have a 94 toy pickup 4x4 22re 4cyl. Engine is surging after warmup, So That in itself is telling me its something computer/sensor related. However I am getting no check engine lights. I have had this truck over six years and run it like the devil and the check enging light has never come on(I love toyotas)
The truck has new plugs, wires, distributor, coil...I suspect the MAF...any other. The engine surges worse at idle up to 2000 rpm and stabilizes...Runs fine at higher Rpm,s
Any clues?
One more thing, can any body tell me how to get the engines codes?
Thanks

Surging may be the idle speed being set too high:

Yeah, that was a previous problem, and I did adjust the idle and fixed it, The truck would stumble at acceleration...now its just surging low and high from idle to about 2000 rpm...

It will run unevenly if the O2 sensor is bad. If you hold the throttle open in neutral it will make a rytmithic surge. In the road it will sometimes lay down or flare up randomly. It took me two years to figure this out on mine. Vacuum leaks will make it surge.

I had the same problem for the last 2 years...... even after a new engine...... just found two clogged vacuum sources while replacing all my lines.....the hoses were fine but where they were attatched were clogged with sludge. Idles great now. One of the clogs was the bottom of the EGR valve, the other was one off the EFI intake.
