Flipping Yer Tbars? Thoughts?
#1
Heard from a buddy that flippin yer torsion bars upside down gave you a good inch or so extra ride height. I have never heard about this being done, nor the pros and cons, so I was just wondering if anyone's done it, how it worked out for em, and all that good stuff. So, yalls thoughts my fellow yota'ers?
And yes I got started a little early today, so forgive the bad spellin and whatnot lol. Go soco! Mmm spicy...

Just bite the bullet and get a bracket lift or SAS. You've already got 33's on cranked torsion bars don't you? Want me to get you in touch with the guy down here who had the 81 truck for sale?
EDIT: Us San Antonio YT'ers should get together sometime.

Sounds great, thanks. [/hijack].
Torsion bars are uniform on both side, but if you flip sides, won't the bars be twisting the opposite way that they were. That could make for accellerated wear couldn't it?

Haha well maybe not a dream, more of a premonition. After we git er done on yers, maybe we'll do it to mine money permitting. Lordy... A 1UZ in a 80's style p/u with a sfa... Dunno, maybe I'll go the 350sbc route. We'll see!

Not only that, the a-arm end is larger than the anchor end. Only option is to swap sides and there is no way in hell I'd drive or ride in that thing. If you twist hardened spring metal past zero they will SNAP.

As mentioned above, the Tbars have a keyed splines. I think they'll only go in one way.
As far as swapping sides, I replaced my bars not too long ago and the installation instructions had all kinds of warnings to make sure they were installed on the proper side. I'm not sure why, but I'm guessing the bars may be pre-stressed to work in a particular direction.
