1990 Fuel injected the plugs are about five months old set at 32ts the rotor cap looks good and button. Timing I have to keep it retared to help from pinging so much. I have used injector cleaner through it. The plugs wire are about two years old . If i try to hold it to the floor the check engine want to try to come on.




I have been working on my toyota 4X4 truck 22re. I have a problem somewhere and just can't fine it. The pproblem is the engine is pinging unload and lost of power i have replaced o2 sensole and change the gas filter out. Also when it pinging missing the tranmission will kick out of gear and i to pull off to the side of road for afew mins then it work fine. Help

Got the right plugs in there? Using good gas or has it been in the tank forever? How's the engine temperature?

 

Just for future reference. You will get more responses if you put any threads like this one on the 4runners, trucks, and SUV's forum.

I'd start with checking the plugs, wires, rotor, and cap. Then check your timing. It wouldn't hurt to run some injector cleaner through it either (if it's fuel injected).

A faulty fuel pump also comes to mind.

It would also help if you told us what year your truck was.

If that stuff doesn't work let us know.
