350/v8/sbc swap.

hi.. i just ripped out my 3.0.. i thought.. wow i have enough room for a sbc. here's my question, throwing in a T5, would it bolt up to the transfer case? if not, what xfer case should i use/would i need? i don't mind fabbing up motor mounts, trans mounts, any mounts, i don't give. nore do i mind wiring. it's not hard to make a carbed 350 run.

So, anyone ever done this? i searched the forums quite a decent amount, with no success.. everyone does turbo 350s & 400s, i don't want to go auto(mainly cuz well, i just don't).

also, does anyone actually know(for sure), how much power/torque, the front/rear ends can handle?

i know AA makes adapters for the trans.. how much can our trans & xfer case handle?

thx in advance.

the transfer case and rear ends are pretty stout...my dad had an 83 pickup with a 350 in it and didnt break any driveline stuff and those rear ends were weaker than these newer ones! as for the front end, i'm clueless as to how strong it is

I believe Northwest offroad makes a kit so you can use a Mustang T-5 tranny, they give you a short mainshaft and and tailhousing that bolts right up to a Toyota X-fer case. This is the best way to go if your doing a V8 swap, T-5 Trannies are a dime a dozen, you can put a Pro-5.0 shifter on it and it feels like your shifting a Mustang. Being a TTC dealer I have considered building up the 100+ core T-5 transmissions I have, the rebuilt T-5 market has dropped off quickly over the past two years because guys with built....even stock Mustangs are buying the newest strongest 5 speeds and 6 speeds TTC is making, my thoughts are to get some of these kits and offer them to the Toyota guys, to make their "swap" easier with a ready to bolt in tranny.
