New MT/R's today with pics

I went with 32's and I think they are a good match for what I need. I won't be regearing anytime soon so 33's would be pushing it in my opinion.

Even with the small increase in size I immediately noticed a decrease in "snappiness" off the line. Not too bad though.

I checked the tire pressure when I got home from the tire shop and found all 4 tires to have 47 lbs of pressure! :wtf: I fixed that really quick.

Of course I had to test run them after having them on for only an hour!

47 psi! Holy shiat! I run my 285's at 33 psi on the street, 11 - 14 psi off road.

Awesome traction aren't they? I never thought I would be a Goodyear user or proponent, but the MTR is a truly awesome all around tire. As "noisy" as my old BFG AT T/A's, at least 50% better traction and very cool looking!

Super mod!

Mike

the results: I am really happy with this purchase. When I was climbing the steep part of that rock formation, the wheels spun a few times and you could here them clawing for traction and then they gripped with ease. If I had aired down it probably would have made it even easier. No compresser yet though.
Overall I am very impressed. I'm thankful for everyone on this forum who influenced this purchase.

Jim, they are 265 75 R16

Victor, you are going to love em when you get them.

And Mike, that's exactly what I said when I saw the pressure guage reading.

I got them at a small local tire shop in my town. They were $174 a tire installed. With tax $184. Probably could have saved a few$ if I traveled farther but I priced a Goodyear shop in Torrington and they wanted $25 more a tire! I was pretty shocked to find that one shop can mark up a $100 more than another and still have customers.
My local shop quoted me $208 per tire with tax and install on the 285's. Too much tire for my truck me thinks

Jim, I'll have to get back to you on that. Although I think the Thule website has all applications and part #'s.

TStango,

They look great! Victor ordered his yesterday from my brother. He apparently gave him a little better of a deal than he quoted too. I was up at my brothers shop yesterday looking at the MTR's. I hope he can give me the same deal in a few months. I was thinking about BFG A/T's, because I was thinking the mileage might be better, but I'm hearing different. What's everyones perspective on the mileage? BFG A/T's vs. MTR's...I'm still kind of undecided.

I always liked the white out on a pickup but I didn't want it facing out on these. Also, I hate when the white letters get dirty and then you add another step to the tire cleaning process.

JSB, thanks for the compliment. I read about your brother going even lower with his price in the other post. That is definitely something everyone should take advantage of. If I was more rational with my thinking this past weekend I probably would have not taken this route and spent more money. Oh well, the end result is the same. Another mod, another bill to pay
Money....It's only paper.
