My lift thread, Finally.

UPDATE: I did my SS #1 suspension lift and my 4crawler body lift on, as well as some 33x12.50 BFG all terrains.

And here she is:
Stock

NOW

Well, I have been here at yotatech for about 2 years searching and asking stupid questions. I finally ordered my lift a few days ago, so I am starting my lift thread. I ordered the OEM lift system 1 from sonoran steel for my 1998 4runner. It should be here pretty soon! Anyways I am planning on running 33x12.50 bfg a/t's on 15x8 3.75" backspacing black steelies from wheelers offroad. My question is to clear those tires with those rims for street driving do I need the 1 inch body lift immediatly or can I wait? I know your responce will probably will be to just go ahead and get it now, but I am 16 and my parentals are already getting kind of frustrated of me ordering all this stuff for the 4runner(even though I am paying for it: Ouch!).

Thanks

i have 295's and needed a 1" body lift. the 12.5 wide is really wide and might need some trimming. if you dont want a BL, then you will have to trim more. what about running 33x10.50 or 33x11.50's? the 10.50's wont require much ,if any trimming and the 11.50's will need very little. hopefully someone else will chime in with more info on the 12.50 wide tires.

good luck, you will like the new stance. i am super happy with my SS#1 system.

Wow thats amazing, you've already done so much research over the past few years, and you weren't even 16 yet? Thats commendable.

Well hope you get your stuff on smoothly and enjoy the result. Im sure you will. Id personally get the 1" body lift if you dont feel like trimming the fenders.

I think I would either get the 1" right now, or drop back down to running the 33X10.50s or 11.50's. But thats just me. Good luck on the install, and keep us updated man!!

oh and to answer the actual question id say getting the BL before is probably wise.

imo, you wanna do it right once, not patch it as things rub.

I might as well go ahead and do the body lift before. I guess I have to plead with my parents for one more inch now. The only thing I am afraind of is them just telling me to get smaller tires, but I have got my heart set on the 33x12.5's.

well, I went ahead and ordered the body lift. My lift is supposed to be in friday, so right now I am preparing everything to install it. I have got a few questions. How the Heck am i supposed to get to those top bolts on the rear shocks. I tried to spray them down with PB blaster but i dont think I got them at all. Any tips? Also I went out and bought a torque wrench for the install, but where am I supposed to find the correct torques for everything?

lee, actually I crawled under the rig today and tried to loosen the bolt just to see if it was rusted and if I could access it. It turns out i could get a 14mm deep socket and a ratchet up in there and i loosened it, so that is no longer a problem.

one thing i love about my 2 inch bl, gives me enough room to have a deepsocket and 3/4s wrench for it.

Well, I received my OEM lift and body lift the other day. I am planning on installing it this saturday. I have already been spraying down everything with PB blaster and loosening bolts jsut to see if I would run into any problems. Everything seems fine except the lower front strut eye bolt seems extremely tight. I have been looking over everything and I pretty much know exactly what I am going to do to put the lift on, but any tips right before I get in to it.

BUMP, I am installing the suspension lift and the body lift tomorow and I cannot figure out how to access the bolt heads of the center body mount in between the front and rear seats, and the mounts beside the rear bumper. HELP

Thanks

Well, I didnt get to put on my suspension lift this weekend, but I did get my body lift on. I am pretty impressed with myself, I finished it in 3 hours(this was my first time working on my truck).
I hope to put my susp. lift on this week, whenever my friend has time to help me.

O yeah< I got in my tires! 33x12.50 BFG All Terrains.

Stock

1" body lift(keep in mind ive got 100lbs of tools and 4 33x12.50's in the trunk)

Tires

Almost Just as good as a photo chop:
