Question After removing the running boards......

Have any of you guys had any problems with rock chips after you removed your running boards?

Have you found that it is better to put on mud flaps behind the front tires to prevent rocks from flying up?

Have fender flares helped keep stuff from scratching the paint on your trucks?

I've only got 31X10.50's and was wondering if there was a fender flare that wouldn't stick out farther than the tire.

Thanks for the help.

I haven't had an issue, but I would like to get mud flaps on there at some point. More for cosmetics than anything else.

Yes, I had rocks kicking up all the time, so I evetually put some Tacoma mud flaps on the front. Problem solved!

Umm, I should note that the only time my rig sees rocks or even gravel is when I pull into an unpaved parking lot.

Yep, one down side to removing them.. My doors get blasted. I have learned to accept it, and it is all a case of mind over matter.. I no longer mind, and it does not matter...

I am worried about my rear door getting ready to explode with rust.. I have it creaping under from the bottom of the door, and I have recently noticed a "bump" right where the door curves for the wheel arch.. Damn, a look inside and I noticed the seam sealer has rusted and pulled away from the door.. that one is going to ruin the door.. Oh well, What are you gonna do in New England?

93 Runner after taking mine off I got alot more stuff coming up off the tires but chipping wasn't really a problem. If you goto Corey's website there are part #'s in there for front flaps off of a truck that will bolt right on that's what I did and it really helped. I have 8" wheels too so mine were sticking way out. After putting the Bushwhackers on this is no longer an issue at all.

Click on my sig for an $8 mudflap idea.

Let mertztr or myself know if you need any further info.

We got them at Pepboys for $8, and I think they are called Gleborski mud flaps or something.

If I remember right, mertztr has the "4x4" logo on his, and I have the plain ones. I think Tom did a write up on it.

I can vouch for <96 Runner>'s $8 mudflaps, they work like a charm!

Ditto here as well- the only complaint I have is how the stock wheel trim ends abruptly, but at the moment I'd rather not spend the money for toyota molded flaps (~70 bucks?).
