1985 truck won't start

just bought a new toy, was brave enough to drive it from alabama. ran fine exept was having a little trouble with starting fixed by a set of new batt. cables. and a leaky gastank. i cut it off and back on probably about three times during the trip. this morning i got in it started it up and took it for some mud-ridin. it ran out of gas because of the leak in the tank, so i put some gas in and nothing happened. no clicking, no startup lights or anything. ive checked the batt cables and the relay. just wondering if anyone else has any ideas on my problem.

Check the main fuse in the fuse box under the hood right behind the battery, if its blown you won`t get power to anything.

On my 84 on the battery Pos side. There is one big wire that runs to the starter and another smaller wire that runs to the fuse box. If that smaller wire has disconnected from the fuse box it will be dead. Pull the ground off the battery make sure it (the inside that connects to the battery) and the battery post is clean. Also make sure where the wire connects into the thing that goes on the battery is clean. They can get so green and corroded in there power can't get past.

For the most part it sounds like you have lost power from the battery to the rest of the rig. That's why no dash lights and stuff. New wires can be bought at most car parts stores for 5 to 12 bucks.

Of course it could be a fuse, but bad wires/dirty connections are normally the cause of no power at all to the rig from my experience.
