I have no idea what im doing but im doing it. I dont know much about working on toyotas except that whatever you want to remove has other things in front of or attached to it. Havent seen many 2wd swaps so here goes. I have a 90 xcab auto thats my daily and my baby. Trans took a crap and shops round hyah want $3k to rebuild it if they can. Couldnt find one at a boneyard, so the plan was to swap a 3.4 and its trans in. I found a 110k mi trans from a 98, and got a good deal(compared to other places) on the motor(140k) and stuffs. Turns out they sent me a 2000 4x4 3.4 and its been 3 weeks since they said theyd get me another earlier year motor, so I guess im on my own. Just gonna go for it, problem is I gotta smog it so gotta see the ref. Started on it yesterday and got the motor out today. I sealed the oil pan up so nice years ago it was a nightmare to remove. Read many threads saying it was a pain to pull the motor and trans together, but it came out easy by myself. Thats just how im used to doing it on old cars lol. Almost done w the pan swap, got a plug ordered for the front dipstick hole in the 3.4, and drilled out the block and installed the dipstick tube adapter. Started small and worked up to one size under 3/8. Hammered it out from the bottom of the 3.slow, and hammered it in from the top in the 3.4. Saw my motor mounts are pretty raggedy, so I have a set coming. Have to booger the crossover pipe since its one of the newer ones, then I can attach the trans and toss it in. Hopefully by the end of the week.
Motors super clean, no oil leaks, timing belt looks recent some of the plugs fit the trans, some I dunno looking to get these two together
more to come
