coolant leak back of engine 3.0 4runner
we got hit with some snow and cold weather recently and my coolant totally froze. after it thawed there was a huge leak at the back of the engine somewhere. it runs down the top of the transmission then off the passenger side. the drivers side of the engine and trans is completely dry.
not all the coolant is leaking out but quite a bit is coming out if I try topping it off. it starts up fine and theres no smoke but it is idling high at around 1800rpms. it was idling a little high before it happened though.
theres no coolant in the oil
I checked small hose on the right of this housing and the leak isn't coming from there.
after doing some research my guesses are that its either the water bypass line or the freeze plugs at the back of the engine.
any ideas on a way to be certain? I would like to know what the issue is before I pull off the top end or drop the transmission. I couldn't really see up there with an inspection mirror.
no need to point out my neglect. I realize how stupid I am. I hadn't been driving it for months so I didn't really think about it when the cold weather hit.

in case anyone comes upon this thread in the future and they have the same problem. the leak was exactly where I thought. where the arrow is pointing in the picture above. the part that is leaking is the water bypass pipe and the part number is 1626865011.
