Post Your Pics!!!
So I bought this
This is my first post. So I bought this and I'm embarrassed to say how much I paid for it. I live in Big Bear so come next spring it should be off road worthy. Wondering if anyone know the history of this Jalopy?
In my opinion, your 4Runner having an SAS makes your purchase of it one heck of a score. On the other hand, I'm stuck with an IFS lol.
Yeah I figured that but whoever did the work had questionable welding skills...... Maintenance has also been questionable... But it's a good starting point.. Thank you.
well its immaculate now. i ordered a new passenger carpet kit with mass backing from OCautocarpets. i removed the cargo area and restrained it and added mass backing. i put ballistic sound dampener behind the interior panels and i used vinyl paint to make everything a nice shade of charcoal grey again. working on having the headliners replaced and the center console armrest redone. also trying to decide on the best way to repair the old L trim pieces for the hard top. i plan on creating a thread about this truck.

The L trim parts of my 4R're brittle, they had some little cracks, I glued them with Loctite, the're holding it very good, but when I remove them I do it very carefully, like I'm handling a container with nitroglycerin just in case.
If you need to replace the armrest lid vinyl, I think this is an option, but I'm not sure:

the dash is whole, theres a 1/2 inch split starting on the passenger side, so compared to most its in great shape. I added the carpet cover to try and save any future damage. I added the rear speakers, honestly. I went back and forth on what to do about getting some sound in the back because the p/o had removed the oem speakers years ago. the perforated area of the rear panels had a lot of uv damage and was cracking already, so I didn't feel to bad about cutting them. besides I did a clean install and even ran new wire loom and speaker wire for them. ive seen the ebay covers, unfortunately all of the foam is also gone from my arm rest so im looking for a shop in town to just reupholster it. a surfboard did a nice gash in the headliner.. so that needs replacing. the truck is in great shape mechanically and has almost all oem parts, its a one owner California truck. unfortunately the cali sun took its toll on the paint. still not sure if im going to try and paint it myself or have a shop do it. im ordering new graphics from jamesdeancustoms.com ive been along time stalker of this site, I used to hang out on mud and t4r a lot. t4r is aggravating these days so im starting a build thread here.

My neck hurts... .... but yes, that interior looks clean...
BTW, what's "ballistic sound dampener? Sounds good.
Re headliner... I made mine spartan and low-maintenance (here)
Re: "Garnish" aka trim, If I were you I'd only replace the L-Shaped ones in the passenger area. Leave the top/cover/cap bolts exposed in the cargo area; Put D-rings o there for secure tie-down points.
Please start a build thread. I'm in SD, too, and wanna see that truck evolve.

i never considered a solid liner for the roof but that looks good and like you said, low maint. ballistic is simply a name brand and it was available in town for cheaper than dynamat. i know there is cheaper stuff on eBay but i wanted a project that day and didn't want to wait ha. i have all 4 pieces of the hard top garnish but they have cracks in them and I'm looking at different avenues for repairing them. right now I think ill bonds that backside and repaint them to try and mask the cracks. i will probably sit down tonight and start posting pics of my project thus far.
