Removing body 'trim' pieces, assistance?

I'm repainting a rear segment after a collision in my truck (my bad), and it has this weird plastic trim, I've had a hard time finding other 4Runners that have it, but I was wondering if it was adhesive, or is it fastened with bolts. I don't want to cause any more body damage! I'm almost out of bondo

I had that on a truck. Mine was like double sided tape. A few passes with a heat gun should help you, or just come to Florida this summer. It'll just fall off. Tony

I've had just black plastic/ rubber on a 98 4Runner and a 2000 that was color code painted. Not sure if they were factory as I didn't buy either truck new. Tony

It's some where between the dlx and sr5 trim package.

I almost bought an old Tacoma that had that rubber trim and researched how to get it off. A heat gun as someone already said and strong fishing line. I would bet there are videos on YouTube. If not search "emblem removal." It's the same principle.

negative. these are aftermarket (dalership installed) pieces more than likely. Dubbed "shopping cart bumpers" where i live. you add em on and it keeps things like shopping carts or other vehicles doors from dinging your paint. worthless in my opinion. best door protection is to get Sliders.

pretty sure it's a type of adhesive, similar or maybe even the same that holds the emblems on the back....be careful you don't take off any paint though

I forgot to add that I've used fishing line to get off pads like those. Use a sawing motion back and forth under the trim. Should peel it off without any damage to paint.

Well since your repainting anyways, by any means necessary, hot knife will take it right off and most of the glue the rest will take solvent and elbow grease.
