I had a link to photos of this article in another thread way back when
But I hauled it in to work and stuck it on the copier / scanner.
I can't figure out how to flip the page 2 PDF (well - there are kluge ways, but I don't have the time)
I scanned page 2 and 3 as both single pages and as a single 11x17 page.
I included the COVER to the issue of AutoWeek
and a Toyota Advertisement that was in the issue
The pages from the magazine are scanned as PDF files
Download them in the "Attached Files" section below
Ivan Stewart's 4Runner Pre Runner
(its a 2WD Ranger frame and a Ford V8 with a Gen1 4Runner body)
There was a Road and Track article in the late 80s/early 90s where they let one of the journalists drive the 001 car that you are restoring...
There were hilarious exchanges like
"don't touch this button, unless you are on fire"
"don't touch this button, unless you are upside down"
"if you are upside down AND on fire, it doesn't matter what order you hit them in"
and
"do NOT attempt to launch the berm to land on the second berm."
"Why - will I bend the truck?"
"Nope - truck will be fine. But if you fall short and the frame high centers on the second berm - you'll be flatter than a pancake"
and after he flips the truck...
"Tony won the pool!!!"
"oh - you were betting on if I would flip the truck?"
"Nope - you were guaranteed to flip it - we were betting on WHICH turn"
