1979 Toyota Pickup window sticker L@@K!!

Here's an early vin window sticker. I bought this truck off of a guy a few years back, but it was in REALLY bad shape so I decided to part it out. The frame was one of the worst I had ever seen in all my years dealing with early toys smack dab in the rust belt.

The guy I got it from was the original owner. He said he had been thinking about getting a chevy luv, but read about these in 4Wheeler and was impressed by the writeup. He went to the dealership and decided to put a downpayment on one of the fist 1000 4x4's to be imported. He told me he specifically expressed to the salesman that the price they agreed on would remain the same, but that changed once it arrived on the lot. He jacked it up another $1000 since they were flying off the lot. He obviously still bought it, but was still pissed enought to tell me the story almost thirty years later.

Anyway, I thought you guys would appreciate the window sticker. It was an SR5 with all the available bells and whistles. Gotta love the price of fuel in 79 at .70 cents a gallon. If only..............!!!

The question mark wasn't from me or Toyota. I guess the original owner couldn't figure the $19.00 tailgate panel charge?? I can't say I blame him.

The steel plate that covers up the inside of the tailgate is what it is referring to.

I know what it was for, but never seen one that didn't have the cover.

Sorry, but I don't have the vehicle any longer. Sold it a few years ago. I still have the window sticker though.

Thanks for sharing this. If you ever want to give that window sticker a good home, let me know.

I have a '79 4x4 as well, #1011, built just 18 units after this rig. Did you have a plaque on the side of yours that called it a "special edition 4x4" like this:

Just curious as your window sticker build looks identical to what mine initially came with. We have been collecting info on these trucks, there is a forum here with more info:

Thanks again for the share!
