Windows XP pricing

What do you think a good price is for XP pro or XP home?
I'm looking for the full version not an upgrade.

thanks

You can get an OEM version from somewhere like www.newegg.com or www.zipzoomfly.com for about $80. Only difference between OEM and Retail is that OEM can only be installed on one machine, whereas the retail version can be installed on as many machines as you own. There's no way around this, as the CD Key becomes "locked" into that specific motherboard your hard drive is plugged into.

If you're in college or have a friend in college, you can prob get a full copy for about $10. That would be your cheapest bet. Other than that, go OEM for the cheapest deal.

the OEM version can be moved to a diffrent machine, your just going to have to call MS and get a new site key. (if you replace a MB or other major parts in the puter)

Doesn't OEM exclude microsoft support (help line). I think you have to call the OEM supplier for support.

My son has a full retail box from microsoft XP pro, full version (not upgrade), unopened.

PM me if interested. I'll have to talk to him about price. He wanted to put it on ebay.

microsoft support is a joke.. i mean, they only read off the knowledge base that us, the public also has access to. the one time i called into microsoft support, they had no answer for me, why i've never bothered with them again. they were courteous and attempted to help.

as for windows versions, get the cheapest you can find.. if you want it on more then one machine, just call in and say.. 'i got a virus', and they will activate it for you a second time around. also, the keys 'reset' themselves, after around 6months to a year, the activation on a particular key is renewed and you can put it onto another computer.
