Vonage Help!
I'm trying to help out a friend who just got Vonage, and I've never fooled with setting it up before. As he's got it set up now, everything's up and running except for the file sharing that was previously working, but now it's not. Here's how he has it configured:
One computer is wired, and the other is wireless. Both can get online fine, but their file sharing no longer works. They can't see each other. I'm thinking I need to hook the Vonage VT2442 up to one of the LAN ports and take it out of the computer internet equation:
I've searched other forums, and this seems to be the popular configuration. However, most say they disable all "router" functions on the VT2442. I just want it to be a quick in and out, and avoid any unnecessary complications, so I figured I'd ask here to see if anyone has a similar setup, and how they got it to work.
Thanks!
Code:
Internet--->Cable Modem---->Vonage VT2442----->Linksys WRT54G----->Computers

your second config is correct. The vonage box should be connected to the router. The box should be hooked up just like a computer to the router. That should get everything working as it should!

That's how I have mine set up also (second setup). Vonage prefers the way as the first diagram is though. That way the vonage box can throttle internet bandwith to maintain call quality.
