So, my $100 Ebay computer died...

Yep, bought back in Jan of 2003. It has always been my kids computer. P3 450 Dell something or other. I had a 17" Viewsonic CRT from an old system that work just fine. They are on their second mouse (regular ball type)

So, the HDD went south. I'm certainly capable of adding a drive and formatting/loading it, but I thought in the back of mind that instead of messing with this now, I'll get my kids back up running and get this one going for a garage machine.

So I get on Ebay to look for a computer (searched "P4 computer") and the first listing I read seemed like a smoking deal.

P4 2.8 HT 256Mb RAM, 80Gb HDD, Integrated vid/NIC/Sound

AND

a 17" LCD Flat Panel Display.

AND

only 22 minutes left.

So I watch.

$580 no change for 12 minutes.

Then $590.

Then $600 with only a few minutes left.

I watch and wait.

I click the place bid button at about 20 seconds left. I bid $610 -

D'oh not high enough -

I up it to $616 as time runs out.

I beat the high bidder by a dollar!! Wahoo!!!

BTW, this is brand new in the box with a Dell warranty!!

Yeah, that was kind of steep, but I factored that in. Most of the new PC's I saw were $70-90 for shipping. It's coming 2nd Day Fed Ex though.

I shipped a computer once. It ran about $100. But it did not have a flat screen monitor. The monitor box was by far the heaviest.

It's here already! Gotta love that!!

I need to get her setup and check things out. On the surface, everything seems to be on the up and up!
