Okay to delete this temp file?
I'm pretty sure I'm in the clear but just wanted to make sure all the same. The file I'm talking about is C:/documents and settings/**user name**/Local Settings/Temp
I'm not deleting the file itself, of course, but I'm going in and deleting everything inside.
This is okay, right? OR am I missing something?

Yes, but you'll probably have to close your browser first if you do it manually. The files in C:/documents and settings/**user name**/Local Settings/Temp folder can also be deleted by using the 'delete temporary internet files' button on your browser of choice.

The answer is yes, it's ok to delete the contents of that temp folder. Every profile on the computer would end up with it's own temp directory, and as we know, windows doesn't clean up after itself very well at all. It's good to get c:\documents and settings\*username*\local settings\temp folder, the internet exploder cache files, and the c:\windows\temp(might also be c:\winnt\temp) contents deleted every once in a while. Then run a checkdisk(error checking) and defrag and you're about as good as you can get file wise.

I empty that folder every Thursday night during my weekly tuneup ritual followed by a scan with Spybot Search & Destroy, then Spy Sweeper.
Then I run the Disc Clean up in the System folder on the Start menu, then defrag with Executive Softewares DiscKeeper.
Gotta have it tuned to the max during the weekends
