Every so often I update all the drivers on my system with the latest availible, usually for security purposes, bug removal, and added features. I was on the linksys webpage because I wanted to update my wireless PCI adapter model WMP54G. When I goto 'Hardware' in device manager it the adapter is labeled 'Wireless-G PCI Adapter #2', driver date 6-13-2003 version 3.20.23.0. So when I goto the linksys.com and bring up the driver page containing the driver for my adapter ( <-click) it says that their latest driver is version 2.2.3.0 which is before the adaptor I have correct? But the date they have is 4-15-2004 which is alot more new then the driver I have. Also they have the adapter called WMP54G - Wireless-G PCI Adapter v4....v4?

Anyway everything works fine I was just wondering if someone could enlighten me on this. Is this driver newer or older? But I dont want to hear if its not broke dont fix it, I'm just curious on what the deal is, if anyone even knows....thanks!

Sounds like that driver is for Version 4 of the adapter card, what version is yours? Maybe Version 2?

 

thats what i thought too but I cant find anywhere on the site that has anything about version 2...that link you gave me is for the WPC54G...i need WMP54G.....
